CHD awareness

My Little nugget has been doing awesome! He is growing like wild fire and is so interested in EVERYTHING. Incase you're new here... baby Cayden was diagnosed with VSD and mild PS ( read about our journey so far here and here ) Well for some reason last night I couldn't get his issues off my mind. We still have a 50/50 chance of him getting open heart surgery. I literally stayed up until 3:30am researching and reading others stories.

Did you know...

>>Congenital Heart Defects are the number one birth defects in the world.
>>They are also the number one cause of birth defect related deaths.
>>About 1 in 100 babies are born with CHD.
>>Over 50% of CHDers will have at least one open heart surgery.
>>Nearly twice as many children die from CHD each year as from all forms of childhood cancer, yet funding for pediatric cancer research is 5 times higher than funding for CHD research.

There is a tiny little Pulse Ox that can screen an infant for a congenital heart defect.
It is mandatory in some places but not all. Obviously, this needs to be mandatory everywhere!
By raising awareness, we can save lives.

Hearing that your little baby has something wrong with his heart is one of the most devastating things a mother can hear. Trust me! If you ever suspect something is wrong with your wee one, take him to get checked out. It never hurts. No one knew how serious Cayden's heart problem was until I took him to the ER after a few nights of us first being home from the hospital. Follow your mommy instincts and remember you are your baby's voice!

With that being said, I really want to save up some extra cash and get one of these (:

  1. Aww. This has to be absolutely terrifying as a parent. Prayers that everything is ok and he doesn't have to end up having surgery.
