Jon's Basic Graduation

Since my husband gets totally embarassed (even though secretly he loves it) when I brag on him,
I'll add another exciting thing that has happened.
While we were on leave, we headed down to Georgia for my brother in law's graduation from basic.
Sooo YAY! for Jon (:

My Husband getting totally embarrassed at me showing off all his new bling and new rank.

Chris and His mother decided that I should show off my best assets to make him feel more comfortable. Haha.

The Stories Begin

I'm back! Agh. So much has been going on it's crazy.
BUT we are finally settled in to our new place! Only to move again in three months,
when Chris deploys. Bleh, we don't need to talk about that.

While I was absent from the blog...

  • We found out Cayden HAS to have heart surgery at some point
  • Christopher graduated Air Assault school AND got promoted in the same day
  • We moved into a bigger apartment
  • We went home to Ohio for two weeks
  • We went to the movies for the first time since I had Cayden
  • We had much needed family time with both of our families
  • We spoiled ourselves a little with some shopping
  • We went to Kings Island
  • We went to Georgia for my brother in laws graduation from basic
  • We had our first night out drinking since I had Cayden ( and legally for me )
  • I was legitimately Catfished
  • My husband worked my ass in the gym.
  • I got my first Vox Box from influenster
Obviously A LOT has been going on,
so I will be spending a lot of posts covering some of the events.
I hope you guys don't mind (:

Stay tuned in.

Riverfest 2013

Riverfest is a little festival put on for the army in Alexandria Bay. They had booths all over the strip promoting their business and giving away free things. There was a meal provided and a small carnival for the kiddos. We went on the Uncle Sam Boat tour which took us around all the islands and told us the back story to the houses, hotels, and castles built on them. It was about an hour long tour and then we get dropped off at the Boldt Castle. It was so much fun, even baby Cayden enjoyed it (: If you ever get around upstate New York, I definitely recommend making a stop here and taking the tour.

And around three today, we will be heading to Mountain Fest for some more fun (:
and a tribute concert to the troops from Craig Morgan!
Stick around to hear about how it goes....

Camo Cupcakes!

I have probably pinned this a million and a half times on my pinterest, swearing that I was going to do it.
Just like all the other DIYs and recipes I pin, and well dag on, I actually did this one.
Camouflage Cupcakes. Now let me warn you, if you're going to try this, things WILL get messy.
Now, on to the instructions...

First off, I used two cake mixes. One chocolate and one white. I made the two exactly how the boxes instructed and pre set the oven for the temp they said. Then I separated them into four different bowls. I left one white and one chocolate of course. Then I mixed equal parts chocolate and white. and for the green I did mostly white, a weee bit of chocolate and green food coloring.

Now, some people tend to get all fancy smancy and separate their colors into cute little decorating bags and squeeze them out into the cupcake trays. Yeah Yeah, that'll save you 90% of the mess, but who cares, right?! I used spoons. I spooned a little bit of each color into the cupcake trays and it worked just fine.

Finally, I popped those babies into the oven and waited patiently on the couch...

and finally, 18ish minutes later, I had these awesome camo cupcakes!

PCSing

That day is coming closer and closer.
and I must say, we are pretty excited and nervous all at the same time.
Goodbye Fort Drum and Hello Fort Carson!

For some reason, it's just now really hitting me that we are moving and oh my we have a lot to get together. This will be our first army move and we have no idea what we are doing. Chris has an appointment sometime this week to get things figured out more, but still! We are moving 28 hours away, with two cars, a new baby, and a dog. How can this possibly work out?! I think we are trying to do somewhat of a partial DITY because we hear that's the best way to go, but we definitely need to get more information on how this works.

We are really excited about leaving Drum and going to Carson. We are totally not New York people. We hate the town we are in, the people are rude, and we can't stand the harsh winters. However, I am a little worried for Cayden's sake. We absolutely love our cardiologist here. He knows what he is talking about and does so well with Cayden. Moving means we have to find a new doctor that we can trust to take amazing care of our little man. Especially if we have to go through with the open heart surgery. Talk about a stressed mommy.

Anyways, We have heard amazing things about Colorado and can't wait to get there.

Any advice on military moves?!
We would greatly appreciate it.

Our Just Okay Photos

We FINALY got our pictures back that we got done of Cayden.
They are supposed to be our newborn pictures but they are a little late
due to being in and out of the hospital for a month with him.

Maybe it's just me being extremely picky,
but I'm not crazy impressed with them.
I really wish we would have spent extra money
and went to someone more professional.
What do you think?

Also, What's everyone doing for Father's Day?!

Losing Track of time!

My goodness. Time is just slipping right between my fingers.
Can you believe its ALREADY June! I sure can't.
Well I have seemed to be M.I.A recently so this post is going to be full of random ramblings.

First off, We are having a bit of a scare with my little man. As you know ( or need to catch up on ) he has VSD and PS. He has been doing really well on his medicine and is growing perfectly. However, the past couple days he has been having issues staying awake during feedings. He normally eats for about 10mins on each side , every three hours. Well, He has been barely making it to a 7min feed and randomly popping up hungry. Grrrrr... It's exactly what the doctor has been telling us could happen. Which means we could be leaning more towards the surgery side. Yeah, talk about one worried momma...

Alright now, Holy Cow. Do any of yal watch The Real World?! My husband and I are die hard fans. And if anyone is with us.. What are your takes on Nia? One minute I like the girl and the next I want to jump through the dang TV and shake her crazy ass. I almost had a heart attack when she went nuts on Johnny and then her and Avery got into it. I seriously about jumped out of my pants in anger. Didn't the whole start from Avery's dog pooping and Nia stepping in it and refusing to clean it up? I swear, if that becomes the biggest problem in my life, someone better give me a high five. Anyways, I can't wait to see what happens next Wednesday.

Oh and I totally just participated in this book exchange. Samantha over at Hooah and Hiccups showed it to me, and helped me out with finding some mommies, which made me realize that I need more mommy friends, besides the point, ANYWAYS I got a confirmation email today saying that my book had sent to my child and I got so excited. Now I am anxiously waiting for Cayden's books to come in the mail. I LOVED reading with my parents so I am hoping Cayden will enjoy it too (:

After months of  our orders being changed and set back and cancelled and what not, we finally got our day set. We are due to be at Fort Carson, CO on September 10th (: So goodbye Fort Drum, NY. Honestly hope to NEVER see you again. I mean we have had our share of good times but phew this town has worn me out. (and this weather) but HEYYY to all you military wives!!!! This will be our first PCS (my husbands second. He was in Korea before here) and we would love any advice. We will be moving with two cars, a baby, and a dog and have no idea how we are going to do it all.
